Goodbye to the badger

Could this be the end for the badger in Britain? A study released this week is advising a widespread cull of the native badger population.

While bovine TB is a large problem for farmers, I personally think there must be a better way than just killing the badgers. Can they not innoculate the wild badger population so they would no longer pass the disease on to the cattle? It seems very harsh to decide that the cattle have more right to live than the badgers.

I would be much more supportive if the proposed plan was not a cull, but a removal of the badgers to a different area. There must be nature reserves or stretches of the country where badgers could live without causing problems - so why can’t they be moved rather than kill them all.
