Halloween - trick or treat?

I think it’s very strange how we have turned old pagan festivals into secular & commercial occasions today. Halloween is a very topical example.

All Hallows Eve, now shortened to Halloween, was thought by many Celtic cultures to be one of the times when the barriers between the physical & the spiritual world were weakest and when magic was most potent. Today most of those ancient pagan traditions have been all but forgotten, tho echoes can be seen in the common activities enjoyed by many in the Western world. Celebrations now include making pumpkin lanterns, going trick or treating, and dressing up as various ’scary’ characters such as ghosts, witches and devils.
