Leaning Tower of Pisa loses title

Leaning Tower of Pisa

The Leaning Tower of Pisa has lost it’s place in the Guiness Book of Records. The world record for the most lop-sided building now goes to a church tower in Germany.

The church in the village of Suurhusen was built in the 13th century, but then had a 90ft tower added in the 15th century. The combination of wooden foundations and wet soil have resulted in the tower listing over the years. It was stabilised in 1996 at an angle of just over 5 degrees, making it a clear winner over the Leaning Tower of Pisa which is at an angle of just under 4 degrees.
