Online school report cards
11 January 2008, by Heavens Paradox

There has been a big divide in opinion over the latest plans announced by the School’s Minister Jim Knight. He has proposed using electronic reports, so parents have ‘real-time’ reports on their children’s progress.
The proposal seems to consist of giving parents access to an online system which is regularly updated with the progress and achievements of the pupils. This will allow parents to get updates much more frequently, and also prevents facts being hidden by children. However, many people are worried about data protection and wish to avoid a ‘Big-Brother is Watching You’ feeling in the schools. Overall I think it is quite a good idea, but as with many government proposals it will depend on how well they implement it.
