Repetitive Strain Injury

components of the hand and wrist

Working with computers I suffer from RSI (repetitive strain injury). I’m not alone in this, I know many people who suffer in one way or another through the use of tools.

There are many different causes to RSI, and a range of different symptoms. RSI is basically a term used to describe a number of different conditions that are caused by repetitive motions of some kind and can affect any part of the body, though it is more commonly seen in the wrists, elbows, neck, back or other areas of the upper body.

Unfortunately there are very few effective treatments, generally you need to stop doing whatever caused the problem, and rest the affected area. This can be much easier said than done! However, RSI can become very serious if left untreated so it’s much better to get help as soon as possible than ignore it and hope it goes away.
