Still in danger from flooding
31 January 2008, by Heavens Paradox

Thankfully the serious risks from flooding seem to be receding now, but there have still been a large number of people at risk this year and the threat has not completely gone.
The flooding earlier this month caused widespread problems. Transport links were broken, with key roads unpassable, and trains unable to run on flooded tracks. Many houses and businesses were underwater, with several people needing to be evacuated, and in some cases rescued. Thankfully the wet weather has started to ease off, with more cold spells forecast for the next few days. While the water levels are still high, they didn’t rise as high as last summer and there are hopes that, at least for now, the serious threat is fading.
